On August 6th the Las Pavas community met with the mayor of El Peñon, the Police Inspector, the Police Commander, the municipal human rights officer, and the Aportes San Isidro company lawyer. In spite of a resolution issued in 2013 from the mayor’s office demanding respect of the Las Pavas community’s possession of the land and to refrain from any physical aggression against the community, the company refused to comply and declared the right to expulse these “invaders” from the land.
Then, on August 8th, the company cut 70 plantain trees that the community planted the week before. On August 12th they stole watermelon crops and destroyed the plants.
